Contribute to the Press

WATG Press is an independent literary press dedicated to dark, speculative, and imaginative fiction. Everything we publish is driven by passion, care, and a strong commitment to quality. But like any independent press, our growth depends on support.

About WATG Press

WATG Press is an independent press founded and directed by Dakria.

We publish horror, speculative, and surreal flash and microfiction. Our mission is to spotlight misfit voices and stories that cut deep—writers unafraid to disturb. We host themed calls every two months, along with regular Special calls. Subscribe to our Substack to stay informed about new opportunities.

We also publish Writing Against the Grain, a monthly e-magazine where tongues are unbound and quills tell the truth. Open calls run from the 3rd to the 15th of each month.

As we grow, we are committed to evolving from a volunteer-driven publication into one that compensates its contributors—step by step, anthology by anthology.

Join our community of readers and creators who believe in the true potential of writing.

Support WATG Press and help us pay our contributors. Your donation directly funds the writers who make our work possible.

How your support is used

Funds raised through this page may be used to:

  • Extend and improve marketing and visibility for our publications

  • Increase print distribution and availability of physical editions

  • Enable the publication of more single-author books alongside anthologies

  • Launch more calls for submissions, with strong and ambitious themes

  • Support contributors whenever possible—either financially or through author copies, depending on the project and available resources

We aim to use all support responsibly and in ways that best serve both the press and its authors, while keeping the flexibility needed to adapt to different projects and opportunities.

Transparency & independence

WATG Press remains fully independent. Support does not grant editorial influence, guaranteed publication, or preferential treatment. Editorial decisions are always based on quality, fit, and vision.

While we strive to be transparent about our goals, we also retain the freedom to allocate funds where they are most impactful at any given time, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the press.

Thank you

Every form of support—financial, moral, or simply by sharing our work—helps keep WATG Press alive and growing. If you believe in what we publish and what we stand for, your support truly makes a difference.

Thank you for being part of the journey.
