What Lurks in the Hollers & Other Eldritch Horrors
By Amber Willis

There are things buried deep in the hollers that should never be disturbed.

In this unsettling collection of horror fiction, ancient darkness creeps through forgotten graveyards, abandoned farmhouses, lonely forests, and quiet Appalachian backroads. Ordinary people find themselves facing things older than memory itself: strange creatures beneath the soil, cursed relics, hungry shadows, and terrors waiting patiently in the dark.

A gardener becomes obsessed with the earth beneath her hands. An archaeologist uncovers a relic tied to something ancient and merciless. A caregiver answers a simple job listing that leads to unimaginable horror. Elsewhere, darkness falls across the world without warning, and something vast begins to move beneath the ground.

Blending cosmic horror, folk terror, and body horror, What Lurks in the Hollers & Other Eldritch Horrors delivers haunting stories filled with dread, decay, and the creeping feeling that something is watching from just beyond the trees.

If you enjoy eerie small-town horror, unsettling creatures, and slow-building nightmares, this collection is for you!

“Amber Willis' collection, What Lurks in the Hollows, is a love letter to the beautiful, brutal, and blood-soaked landscape of rural Tennessee. Willis' stories unearth the quiet, suffocating dread that thrives just beyond the tree line of the Tennessee backcountry.”
-Kevin David Anderson, Author of Night of the Living Trekkies, and Midnight Men

About the Author.

Amber Willis lurks in the mountains of North Carolina. As a child, she clambered along the mountainside, flipping over rocks to find salamanders; wrote and made little books out of construction paper; and came up with horror stories to scare her little sister.
In 2025, Amber graduated with honors from East Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Paleontology and minor in Biology. She worked full-time as a welder while attending college and continued writing in her free time.

Amber has contributed short stories and drabbles to anthologies and websites. She loves horror but sometimes cheats on her beloved with fantasy.

Amber continues to work full-time as a welder and writes whenever opportunity arises. She runs loose in the hollers, looking for birds during the day and becoming a nocturnal stalker of bats and frogs. She still sends her little sister horror stories.
